A Rio Grande Valley native is making a name for himself in the world of voice acting, lending his voice to some of the most popular anime series and video games around.

Ethan Gallardo graduated from PSJA North High School in 2010 before attending Texas A&M University in College Station and now lives in the DFW area.

Gallardo has spent more than a decade working in voice acting, with a focus on anime and video games.

“I primarily work in anime and video games. I’ve been working with Crunchyroll for about 10 years now, so I’ve been doing a lot of anime through the years. I also have done a handful of video games,” Gallardo said.

Some of his most recognizable roles include Manuel in My Hero Academia, Señor Pink in One Piece, and Hikaru Gero in Marriage Toxin. His voice can also be heard in the Borderlands franchise and Double Dragon.

Gallardo said the Valley will always hold a special place for him.

“Every year I go down to the Valley to see my family, and every year I go, it recaptures a little bit of that love for the 956. It might be small, but it’s not meek in any way; there are so many talented people, so many passionate people,” Gallardo said.

He said what makes the Valley stand out is its strong sense of community.

“People love their families down there, and there’s just something that inspires me every time I’m down,” Gallardo said.

Gallardo currently has several projects in the works.
