Film Commission Under New Leadership

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A change of leadership is coming to for the Brownsville Border Film Commission.

The organization in charge of facilitating activities for filmmaking is now under the direction of the Main-Street Program. This comes after former film commissioner Peter Goodman retires from the position. The city tells us they decided to consolidate the film commission and Mainstreet because they already preformed similar organization roles.

News Center 23 spoke to the new director and her plans.

Miriam Suarez, Mainstreet Manager, “We want to make [Our film commission website] a part of the Brownsville website now. We want to create some filming guidelines, create a process for everyone that wants to film in Brownsville.”

The Brownsville Border Film Commission was formed in 2003. The City claims the organization had been “inactive since 2005.”
